Some theories say that paper was chosen to mark the very beginning of your life together as a couple because it is a reminder that you’re writing the story of your lives together. The first anniversary marks the completion of the first “chapter”. Paper is delicate and fragile, like the start of a relationship, but if nurtured and loved can last decades.
I love making unique one off pieces and special occassion gifts such as this handmade paper disc necklace. For this piece I created my own paper from scratch using strong glues and varnishes. Each disc has multiple layers with dyes and colours embedded within them. Strung on fine red wire these semi-transparent weightless discs sit comfortably around your neck.
