ARTIST

The work I create is a visual reflection of my academic background in mathematics and science which continues to offer a broad source of inspiration many years later. My particular interests lay in natural sciences and processes as well as experiment and research process. I consider each piece a study or experiment towards a journey of understanding both the physical and metaphysical world around us.

In response to personal family events, the theme to my most recent work has responded to the phenomena of chaos and order. Order seems intrinsic to human life, yet the unpredictability of chaos penetrates its systems and design. We cannot control our own destinies, nor can we control the outcomes of those around us whose lives may affect chaos and disorder to our own.

Compelled to work with new mediums such as fire and smoke – elements that are volatile and chaotic, I have explored the creative extent of fluid dynamics: the movement of water. This experimentation in my process and the use of repeating shapes and patterns has led to a body of work that combines the visual cohesion of these two polar entities: the controlled and disordered.
