My current practice is almost entirely inspired by biological science and my work celebrates the combination of this interest and visual art.
My work explores my desire to better understand my surroundings in both the physical and the metaphysical sense. By using the creative process as a method to help analyse, deconstruct and recreate the intangible into the rational and visual. Taking on a holistic viewpoint and extrapolating into the microscopic, I use linear decoration and pattern illustrating the bifocal nature of my way of thinking. With a background in biochemistry and biological science much of my ideas revolve around the interconnecting mechanisms of nature, eco systems and our co-existence as a species. I also explore ideas around colour physics.
I am currently developing ideas around chance and order, balance and imbalance and the self- conscious, with influences from British Constructivism and artists such as Victor Pasmore and Kenneth Martin.
