New Paintings

Since the computer broke and left me with the inability to blog, something also happened to my urge to create jewellery. I wasn’t able to restock certain supplies online and I was feeling pretty cut off from the world. I was in such a good place too, creating some of my strongest jewellery work to date, then suddenly, it was all taken away from me. In this situation I decided to return to my artwork as I just can’t cope with not thinking about ideas, making stuff or getting my hands dirty.

I tend to swap things over when I am ready and reach a plateau of creativity in one field, however this time, I wasn’t quite ready to hang up the pliers just yet.

So, it seems, I am back into painting and drawing, led on by circumstance. It’s very hard to concentrate on two disciplines at once. You need a few months to get really back into the swing of things and let the ideas flow and progress. I had been concentrating on jewellery all year and was really enjoying it. Maybe, after all it was time for a change.

Here is some of the work that I have been doing while I’ve been away from the jewellery making.

The Longing

Coming to Life

Leaf Pattern II

Nature Unbound

All the paintings are acrylic on canvas.

The amount of work I have accumulated at home now is ridiculous! I have finally managed to photograph some more work and will be adding a page to my site devoted to artwork and paintings.

I am hoping for the opportunity that they can be shown at the Chapel Allerton Arts Festival in September. Its great that they are given a chance to be shown and appreciated by others. I believe the Chapel Allerton Arts Festival is on the first weekend in September. The art exhibition will be in the Methodist Church.
