Copper Jewellery

Its been ages since I made any sort of jewellery and my goodness, I could tell! I decided to make a necklace yesterday and I was horrified at how rusty I had become, it felt like I was all fingers and thumbs! After using the wrong gauge wire for my design I had to start again but eventually got it to do what I wanted. I used a stone I bought a while ago – a beautiful polished cabochon in a pale sea green. I am very happy with the colour combo after the oxidization process as the pale green sits nicely against the dark tones of the copper wire.

I’ve called the piece River Stone as the lovely sea green colour reminds of  the frothy, bubbling water of the raging River Taupo I once visited in New Zealand.
